I was driving home, after what had been a long and rough day. I looked out my window and saw, very brightly, the constellation Orion. It reminded me of nights growing up, seeing those same winter stars as I was out snowboarding or driving to school in the early morning.
I thought to myself then, how much do the stars change over the years? None. In all the violence and chaos of space, in the unthinkable speeds at which all the stars and planets travel, the sky we see doesn't change. How much more stable is God, then?
If the stars in the heavens don't change throughout the years (regardless of how much turmoil there is on earth), surely God, the Father of lights, is even more unchanging. No matter what happens on earth, in our lives, whether it's war or peace, love or hate, the stars will not change. So, we can be confident that God also is unwavering. He will not change in His character, His mercy, His love, or His protection.
The God who has no beginning and no end, has never changed, not in His promises to us and not in His plan for us. Regardless of how we change and fluctuate, God is stable. He is our refuge and strength. He is ever present, never changing. He is the God of the universe. The One who can breath stars, is certainly powerful enough to protect you. No matter what happens in our lives, God's grace and love will never change.
The God who made each star, each grain of sand, made you and knows you, as He revealed to Job. The God who knows the turbulence of every object in space, knows the turbulence in your life and is unwavered.
He who made the Pleiades and Orion, and turns deep darkness into the morning and darkens the day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the surface of the earth, the LORD is his name.
